Blood Cleanup

When a traumatic accident, suicide or crime takes place there often will be blood or other infectious biohazards left at the scene. Traumatic accidents can happen at any location, inside a home, inside a place of business, inside a vehicle, boat or airplane, a jail cell, an industrial machine or along the sidewalks or streets.

Blood or bodily fluids left behind are a biohazard that contains pathogens capable of transmitting diseases if not handled or decontaminated properly. When a traumatic event occurs it must be cleaned and disinfected per regulation to decrease risk of pathogen exposure.

Blood Cleanup - Procedure

When faced with a traumatic incident or accident, first ensure the victim’s safety and safety for yourself. If the tragedy is a crime scene, the authorities will inform the property owner or family members when the “scene is clear” for cleanup. Make sure the contaminated areas remain clear from family, personnel or employees. The area is considered a biological hazard and should be kept clear until our technicians remediate the area. No one should come in contact with blood or bodily fluids. The BIOClean Team technicians will be dispatched immediately upon your call.

The BIOClean Team follows the protocol and procedures mandated by OSHA and the California department of Public Health. Our technicians wear full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including biohazard protective suits, full-face respirators with organic vapor filters, and several layers of gloves. They will decontaminate the immediate and obvious blood and bodily fluid spill, and then inspect for secondary contaminates such as spatter, drip, or tracking. Our biohazard technicians are all held to the highest standards with multiple safety, OSHA and IICRC certifications.

An essential aspect of every blood-borne pathogen cleanup is the use of an appropriate disinfectant to kill the potential pathogens. Our technicians decontaminate and bio-wash with a proprietary three-tiered chemical system and enzyme cleaners that contain special enzymes to break down proteins, starches and lipids, such as those found in human blood and tissue.

Our EPA registered chemicals are fully compliant and kill Influenza A, H1N1 Influenza A, Influenza A Avian virus, Rhinovirus type 37 and HIV, as well as gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including: Salmonella enterica, Staphylococcus aureus, Methicillin Resistant S. aureus (MRSA), and E. coli.

OSHA considers the disinfectant to be fully compliant and capable of killing potential blood-borne pathogens, designed to disinfect the structure and personal belongings. We remove, transport and properly dispose of the blood and biohazards, based on OSHA and the California Department of Health standards.
